Violence in Pakistan Surges 83% as More Than 1,400 Are Killed
BAREEN Media – Violence across Pakistan increased sharply in the third quarter of 2026, with at least 1,415 people killed and 558 injured, according to the Center for Research and Security Studies (CRSS).
CRSS recorded 385 violent incidents linked to militant attacks and counter-terrorism operations between July and September. The number of fatalities was 83 percent higher than in the previous quarter, reversing the decline recorded earlier this year.
Balochistan recorded the highest number of deaths, with 829 fatalities, followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with 556. Together, the two provinces accounted for 98 percent of all violence-linked deaths recorded nationwide during the quarter.
CRSS said the rise was driven largely by increased militant violence and intensified security operations. Civilian deaths also increased, reaching 254, while 240 security personnel were killed during the period.
