PTI Supporters Begin March Toward Islamabad After Talks Fail
Bareen Media – Thousands of supporters of jailed former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan and his Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party have begun a long march toward Islamabad after negotiations with the federal government failed.
The march began Sunday from Lakki Marwat in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a province governed by PTI, with provincial Chief Minister Sohail Afridi leading the convoy.
The protesters are demanding Khan’s release, while PTI says negotiations with the government failed to resolve key demands.
The Pakistani government has deployed additional security forces and placed shipping containers and roadblocks on routes leading to Islamabad to prevent the protesters from entering the capital.
The standoff has increased political tensions in Pakistan, with both sides remaining divided after several rounds of talks failed to produce an agreement.
