Pakistan Airstrikes in Afghanistan Leave Civilians Dead

Pakistan carried out airstrikes in parts of Afghanistan, including Kunar and Helmand provinces, with Afghan authorities reporting civilian casualties.

Al Jazeera reports that Afghan officials said at least nine women and children were killed and 11 others wounded in the strikes. Three homes were also reportedly damaged.

Pakistan said the strikes targeted camps and hideouts used by armed groups and claimed that 22 fighters were killed. Afghan authorities rejected the claim and said civilian areas were hit.

The strikes came amid renewed tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan. However, the casualty figures and claims made by both sides could not be independently verified.
