US Pressures France and Germany to Release Diesel Reserves
Bareen Media – The Donald Trump administration has urged France and Germany to release part of their emergency diesel reserves to ease pressure on global fuel markets, warning that the United States could restrict diesel exports to Europe if they do not act.
The request comes as diesel prices in the United States and Europe have risen amid tighter global supplies. The U.S. has proposed that European countries release around 120 million barrels of diesel over six months in a coordinated effort.
France and Germany hold a significant share of the European Union’s emergency diesel reserves, and European officials are discussing how the stocks could be used to respond to supply pressures.
The United States has also warned that restrictions on diesel exports could be imposed if European countries do not release their reserves.
The pressure comes as disruptions to oil and fuel supplies in several regions, including the Middle East, Russia and China, have increased concerns over diesel availability ahead of the winter season.
