UN-Habitat Expands Health Support for Vulnerable Urban Communities in Afghanistan
BAREEN Media – UN-Habitat says it is continuing efforts, with support from Japan, to rehabilitate health centres in underserved urban areas of Afghanistan and improve access to basic healthcare.
The agency said the work is aimed at improving health facilities so medical staff can provide better services and patients can receive safer and more reliable care.
The programme is supported by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and forms part of wider UN-Habitat efforts to improve basic services and living conditions for vulnerable urban communities in Afghanistan.
UN-Habitat says stronger local infrastructure and better access to essential services can also help communities facing poverty, displacement and the growing pressure created by large-scale returns to Afghanistan.
