WHO Steps Up Public Awareness to Prevent Food Poisoning in Afghanistan
BAREEN Media – The World Health Organization (WHO) is increasing public awareness in affected areas of Afghanistan to help prevent the spread of food poisoning and reduce the risk of severe illness.
WHO said its local health surveillance teams are distributing information to residents about the early symptoms of food poisoning and ways to prevent infection.
The awareness campaign also guides the safe preparation, handling and storage of food.
WHO has urged people with possible symptoms to seek medical care as soon as possible, saying early diagnosis and treatment can help prevent serious complications.
The organization said greater public awareness can also help identify new cases earlier, improve timely treatment and reduce the risk of deaths linked to food poisoning.
