Breaking: Afghanistan Will Miss UN General Assembly Speech Again

Bareen Media – Afghanistan will not deliver a speech during the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly this year.

The acting head of Afghanistan’s UN mission said the decision was due to “technical” reasons, as he will attend a side event scheduled at the same time.

Afghanistan had been scheduled to speak on Monday, September 28. The country’s UN mission has instead continued to participate in side events and other meetings focused on Afghanistan.

The decision means Afghanistan will again have no speaker in the main General Debate, while the issue of the country’s representation at the United Nations remains unresolved.
