UNAMA: Afghan Returnees Need Continued Support After Arrival

Georgette Gagnon, Officer-in-Charge of UNAMA in Afghanistan, said in a video published on UNAMA’s official X account that Afghans returning from Iran and Pakistan need continued support not only when they enter the country, but also after they resettle.

During her visit to western Afghanistan, Gagnon said the needs of returnees do not end at the border and that they also require support and services in the communities where they begin their lives again.

She called on the Taliban authorities and international partners to continue supporting returnees and host communities and to work together to meet their growing needs.
