Thousands of students and young people took to the streets of Tirana, Albania\u2019s capital, on Saturday, 17 October, demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama over alleged corruption and a lack of employment opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Local residents have alleged that land linked to the development was sold illegally. Reuters reported that the person who sold the land is under investigation on suspicion of involvement in drug trafficking, an allegation denied by his lawyer. The news agency said it had found no evidence of wrongdoing by Kushner in the matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Albania\u2019s government continues to face scrutiny over corruption allegations. Analysts have also identified money laundering linked to drug and arms trafficking as a major challenge to the country\u2019s efforts to join the European Union.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
