The deciding vote came from Tanya Raffoul, who announced earlier that day that she was leaving the Liberal Party.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Raffoul said she was leaving because she believed the party\u2019s political direction was increasingly marginalising multicultural communities, particularly in Western Sydney. She will remain on Parramatta Council as an independent councillor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Maclean, who was first elected to the council in 2021, said there had been no agreement with Raffoul in exchange for her vote.
