In May 2026, heavy rain triggered flash floods in Bumburet, damaging a house and roads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Community representatives have also warned that repeated disasters can cut road links to the remote valleys, leaving residents isolated and disrupting access to food, medicine and other essential supplies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In response, community-based weather alert stations and emergency response teams have been established in Bumburet, Rumbur and Birir to help residents prepare for floods and other climate related hazards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The growing environmental pressure is not only an economic concern.
