Egypt’s Sisi Says His Presidential Term Will End in 2030
Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi has reaffirmed that his presidential term will end in 2030, saying the date is final.
According to Egyptian media reports, el-Sisi made the remarks on Saturday, 17 October, during a graduation ceremony for students of Egypt’s military academy and military college in the country’s New Administrative Capital.
He stressed his commitment to respecting Egypt’s constitution and said it should not be amended to extend his presidency beyond the scheduled end of his term in 2030.
El-Sisi also said he wanted to leave the country in a position where capable people were prepared to take responsibility for government and manage state affairs.
The graduation ceremony was attended by El-Sisi and several Egyptian officials.
