Kimberly Hart: Excluding Women Weakens Afghanistan’s Climate Resilience

Bareen Media – Kimberly Hart, director of policy and programmes at Georgetown University’s Institute for Women, Peace and Security, says climate and gender issues in Afghanistan are closely connected.

Speaking at a UN side event on Monday, Hart said women’s participation strengthens Afghanistan’s ability to respond to climate change and related crises.

She said the systematic exclusion of women from public participation weakens the country’s preparedness for climate-related emergencies.

Hart also stressed the importance of including women in climate planning and decision-making, saying their participation can strengthen the resilience of communities facing environmental challenges.
