UNDP Provides Clean Energy to 800 Schools and Health Facilities in Afghanistan
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) says it has provided clean and reliable energy to 800 educational and healthcare facilities across 19 provinces of Afghanistan between January 2023 and September 2026.
According to the organisation, the support was delivered through its Sustainable Energy Services for Education and Health in Afghanistan (SESEHA) programme.
The facilities include 621 schools, 154 health centres, 18 district hospitals and seven provincial hospitals.
Solar energy systems can provide electricity for classroom lighting, medical equipment, and essential services in healthcare facilities, helping schools and health centres operate more reliably.
The initiative aims to improve access to dependable energy for essential education and healthcare services in Afghanistan.
