Vance Says Better US-Iran Relations Depend on Tehran Changing Its Conduct

U.S. Vice President JD Vance says there could be a major improvement in relations between Washington and Tehran if Iran makes clear and practical changes in its conduct toward the United States.

Vance said Iran must show actual changes rather than relying on promises before a stronger relationship can develop.

International media report that his comments come as U.S.-Iran diplomatic contacts continue through intermediaries, with Qatar helping facilitate discussions.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has proposed a seven-day plan linking the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz to renewed negotiations. President Donald Trump has rejected the proposal, while indirect diplomatic contacts between the two sides are continuing.
