Man Charged After Woman Allegedly Sexually Assaulted in Sydney Park
Bareen Media – A 27-year-old man has been charged after a 23-year-old woman was allegedly restrained and sexually assaulted in a park in Sydney’s west.
NSW Police said the woman was walking from Flemington Station through Airey Park in Homebush at about 11:15 pm on September 18 when she was allegedly stopped by an unknown man and dragged into nearby bushland.
Police said the woman reported the incident shortly afterwards, prompting an investigation by Auburn Police Area Command and the State Crime Command’s Sex Crimes Squad under Strike Force Januzi.
Following inquiries, detectives executed a search warrant at a property in Padstow on Thursday morning and arrested the man. Police also seized several items for forensic examination.
The man was charged with aggravated sexual assault causing actual bodily harm, intentionally choking a person without consent, taking a person with intent to commit a serious indictable offence, and stalking or intimidation with intent to cause fear of physical harm.
He was refused bail and is due to appear before Bankstown Local Court.
