UNAMA Highlights Afghanistan’s Rich Tourism and Cultural Heritage

Bareen Media – The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) says Afghanistan has significant potential for tourism, with a diverse heritage of historical, cultural and natural sites.

In a message marking World Tourism Day on Sunday, UNAMA highlighted Afghanistan’s ancient cities, historic mosques, archaeological sites and natural landscapes.

The UN mission mentioned the Hindu Kush mountains, Bamyan Valley, the Citadel of Herat and the Blue Mosque, or Rawza Sharif, in Mazar-e-Sharif among the country’s major cultural and historical attractions.

UNAMA also highlighted the ancient city of Balkh, Band-e Amir lakes, the Wakhan Corridor and Bagh-e Babur as important tourism destinations.

The organisation said these sites reflect Afghanistan’s long history, cultural diversity and natural beauty, describing the country’s heritage as an important part of its tourism potential.
