Three Brothers Die While Trying to Rescue Family Member From Well in Herat
BAREEN Media – Three brothers died in Guzara district of Herat province while trying to rescue a family member who had become trapped inside a water well.
The incident occurred in the Neshin area of Guzara district. The bodies were reportedly recovered from the well several hours later.
Local Taliban officials said the brothers had entered a well about eight to 10 metres deep while working on agricultural activities and trying to draw water.
According to local sources, one brother first became trapped inside the well. Two others entered to rescue him, but all three died after being overcome by a lack of oxygen and suffocation.
The bodies were recovered from the well around midnight.
Similar incidents have previously been reported in parts of Afghanistan, particularly when people enter wells without proper safety equipment. Lack of oxygen and entering confined spaces without protective equipment are among the reported causes of such accidents.
