Canadian Astronaut Joshua Kutryk Set to Launch on Six-Month Space Mission
Canadian astronaut Joshua Kutryk is set to begin his first space mission aboard the International Space Station as part of NASA’s SpaceX Crew-13 mission.
CBC News reported that Kutryk is scheduled to launch from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida alongside NASA astronauts Jessica Watkins and Luke Delaney and Roscosmos cosmonaut Sergey Teteryatnikov.
The mission is expected to last about six months, during which Kutryk will conduct scientific research, test new technologies, and take part in station maintenance and operations.
Kutryk will become the fourth Canadian astronaut to take part in a long-duration mission aboard the International Space Station and the first Canadian astronaut to fly through NASA’s Commercial Crew Program.
NASA and SpaceX are targeting October 1 for the launch, although the timing remains subject to mission readiness and launch conditions.
