Rain Ends Afghanistan’s Asian Games Cricket Campaign
Bareen Media – Afghanistan’s men’s cricket team has been knocked out of the 2026 Asian Games after heavy rain forced the quarter-final against India to be abandoned in Nisshin, Japan.
The match at Korogi Sports Park was called off 16 minutes before the scheduled start, with persistent rain leaving the ground unfit for play. No ball was bowled.
Under the tournament rules, India advanced to the semi-finals because of its higher ICC ranking. India entered the competition at the quarter-final stage as the defending champions.
Afghanistan had reached the last eight after finishing second in Group A, following a win over Japan and a defeat to Nepal.
