UK to Reopen Refugee Route, Prioritising Afghan Women and Girls
Bareen Media – The United Kingdom is preparing to reopen a refugee resettlement route that will give priority to vulnerable Afghan women and girls, Palestinian refugees and people with disabilities.
The programme is expected to begin with several hundred places, with an annual limit on the number of refugees admitted.
Eligible applicants will be identified through international refugee organisations and will undergo security and criminal-record checks before travelling to the UK.
Families will be allowed to relocate together, although the scheme will not generally cover wider relatives.
The British government says the new route aims to provide safe and legal pathways for vulnerable refugees while maintaining tighter controls on irregular migration.
